La niña prodigio Coco Gauff

Que está en boca de todo el mundo tenístico es una realidad. Y lo está desde que tenía 15 años, cuando consiguió ya un título de WTA y alcanzó ya el puesto 49.

Toda una proeza que, evidentemente, no ha pasado desapercibida para nadie. Forma parte de esa generación de tenistas que va a dar mucho espectáculo junto con, por ejemplo, Paula Badosa, Elena Rybakina y Marie Bouzkova.

Coco Gauff nació el 13 de marzo de 2004 en Atlanta en el seno de una familia de deportistas. Su padre era jugador de baloncesto universitario en Georgia y su madre, además de ser profesora, fue atleta y compitió por la Universidad Estatal de Florida.

La tenista se interesó muy pronto por el tenis. Tuvo mucho que ver su ídolo, Serena Williams, a quien ya seguía desde muy pequeña y mostró aptitudes para este deporte cuando era muy joven.

Sus padres han tenido mucho que ver en su carrera. A los ocho años de edad decidieron mudarse a Delray Beach porque consideraron que aquí su hija tendría muchas más oportunidades de recibir un entrenamiento adecuado.

Desde entonces, los padres de Coco Gauff lo abandonaron todo para dedicarse prácticamente en exclusiva a su carrera como tenista.

Como su madre es profesora decidieron que se educara en casa para no restarle tiempo a sus entrenamientos.

Su primer entrenador fue Gerald Logio y los entrenamientos tenían lugar en la New Generation Tennis Academy. En sus entrenamientos participaba activamente el padre de Coco.

Hizo también su debut como profesional en el 2018 y ganó su primer partido a los 14 años de edad. Es lógico que se hable de ella como la niña prodigio.
