Alexander Zverev tiene, entre otros muchos títulos, el de Campeón Olímpico al conseguir derrotar a Novak Djokovic en las semifinales de la Olimpiada de Tokio 2020, celebradas en 2021 por causa de la pandemia. En la final por el oro venció con gran autoridad al ruso Karén Jachánov.

Por nacimiento se puede decir que su destino estaba predeterminado para empuñar la raqueta de tenis. Decimos esto porque es hijo de los tenistas Irina Swerewa y Alexander Mikhailovich Zverev.

Su hermano menor, Mischa Zverev también es tenista.

Su padre compitió en la Copa Davis por la extinta Unión Soviética antes de que toda la familia se trasladara a Alemania. Por cierto que fue su padre su primer entrenador.

Junto con Arantxa Sánchez Vicario fue el gran referente del tenis español en la década de los 80 y ahora se dedica a formar jugadores de gran nivel y compagina esta tarea con la dirección del equipo nacional de tenis.
