Los orígenes del tenis de Carlos (Carlitos o Charly como gusta que le llamen) los encontramos en el Club de Campo El Palmar.

En sus instalaciones jugaba el abuelo de Carlos con sus amigos. Aquí también jugó el padre de Carlos, que incluso disputó algún que otro torneo ATP.

Podemos decir que fue su padre quién le animó a jugar si bien es cierto que le repetía constantemente que el tenis era un juego para divertirse.

Pero el talento de Carlos Alcaraz pronto se hizo notar bien pronto y enseguida se observó que tenía un “nivel muy alto”.

Entra en escena Juan Carlos Ferrero

Es Juan Carlos Ferrero, ganador de Roland Garros en 2003 y ex número 1 de la ATP quien lo “descubre” y se lo lleva a su academia de tenis en Villena.

Es en febrero de 2018 cuando Alcaraz consigue sus primeros puntos con profesional con tan sólo 14 años.

¿Dónde lo consiguió? En su casa. Concretamente en el ITF Futures del Murcia Club de Tenis. Era todavía un cadete pero ya todos los ojos del mundo del tenis estaban puestos sobre su figura. Y pocos meses después se proclamó campeón de Europa Sub 16 en Moscú.

Ya como juvenil ganó dos torneos del ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors y alcanzó el número 22 del ranking. Tras hacerse profesional en 2018, ganó tres torneos del ITF World Tennis Tour y cuatro del ATP Challenger Tour, entrando en el top 100 del ranking ATP en mayo de 2021.

Dos meses más tarde ganó su primer ATP Tour 250, el Open de Croacia. En febrero de 2022 ganó su primer ATP Tour 500, el Open de Río, y en abril su primer ATP Tour Masters 1000, el Open de Miami.

El colofón (de momento) fue el triunfo en el Open de Madrid, derrotando a tres grandes consecutivamente como fueron Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal y Alexander Zverev.
